  1. Some things that strike me about the facts in Mr. Fisch's "Did You Know" powerpoint is how did Mr. Fisch kno all this? How did he know that a first grader would begin her first job at age 23? How did he kno how many babies would be born in the time of the 8 minute presentation? This presentation made me feel that my place in the world is very important. Even though it doesn't seem like it is, my life could change the world. By trying my hardest I could maybe find something out that can change life as we know it dramatically. This could impact me by making me rich and famous or by making me want to elxplore more about the world and/or what i discovered.
The value of learning is by learning about different topics you also learn about yourself. My role as a learner is to be the best i can be and always try hard and make the best out of everything.

  2. After seeing Mr. Fisch's powerpoint, it made me realize how unknown the future really is. To me, it showed how we needed to get as much education as possible, because we dont know how different thngs will be in the future. The more we know, the better off we will be. My role as a learner is very important, because we have so much to learn! I had always known that we used alot of technology, but seeing it all in that powerpoint really put it into perspective for me. It makes me a little nervous, because we dont know what is to come, but also excited! The future can either bring great things or it cant. It is all up to what we do now. I have to work hard so my future will be great!

  3. The thing that striked me the most about this powerpoint was how much humanity has come to rely on technology. It makes me feel insignificant because, to me, it seems that no will soon need to truely work together anymore, that we will all just basically unkown to each other. The way this impacts me is it makes me want to try harder so that i actually have a chance to become significant, at least to the people I know personally. The value of learning to me is that if I have any hope of being significant to anyone I need to be able to do the best I can in everything I do. I belive that my role as a learner is to try to understand everything that I can and that will be beneficial to me in the future.

  4. After watching this video, I kind of felt like the world is becoming so technical and advanced that it's like education keeps pushing farther away each day. Even though technology is helping education in a way, it is also destroying it. For example, when we were talking the other day in class about how people aren't as social in person as they are over e-mail or text messaging. Also, with writing, we are getting more lazy in our writings using abbreviations. Mr. Fische's videos made me think really hard about how to change the world and how anyone, any age is capable of changing it. Part of our role as a learner is to change it for ourselves and others, to make it greater. And if we all put forth in that, we could probably change the future.

  5. After seeing that presentation, I was blown away. All of the things I learned were just incredible. I mean, how are we creating jobs for problems that don’t exist yet? It seems to me that, evil robots aside, only good can come out of that much technology. Better healthcare, a connected world, living and breathing together as one. Cheesy? Maybe. But cheesy or not, something like that could end wars before they happen and cure cancer. (Why not?) The power point made me feel that even just little old me, in the right place at the right time could in fact, change the world. With humanity connected as it has never been before, I now have that power. Everyone now has that power.

  6. After viewing Mr. Fisch's power point “Did You Know”, I was really struck by the fact that we have become too dependent on technology and instant gratification, and we have moved away from many of the basic ways of learning. I think that technology is great and that being able to conduct research so quickly by going online is very convenient. However, as a learner, it seems we should ensure that students know how to read, write, and use a dictionary the old fashioned way too. There is a certain amount of discipline that comes from doing things by yourself instead of relying so much on technology. On the other hand, because the world has changed so much and different people prefer different approaches, I think it is cool how politicians have started using social networking sites, such as Facebook and Twitter, to raise campaign money and communicate with voters

My role as a learner is to seek out and acquire as much knowledge and understanding of people, places, and things around me, so that I can become more effective at communicating with others. In addition, I can use that knowledge to teach others. There is so much value in learning because with greater knowledge, you don’t have to rely on other people for everything and you become more valuable to others. Learning can make you a valuable asset to many companies and can ensure you have a long and successful career.

  7. After viewing Mr. Fische’s power point, “Did You Know” I realized how dependent the world is on technology and the fact that technology is the future. In the power point Mr. Fisch displayed the fact that “in 2049 a 1000$ computer will exceed computing capabilities of the human race.” This got me thinking that eventually we will rely entirely on technology. Another fact that I learned during this power point was that “every 8 seconds 34 babies are born,” this helped me to grasp how enormous the world truly is and how many people are affected by modern technology. With technology doing most of the work for people, life is defiantly easier but we no longer have some problem solving skills that our previous generation possessed. Some might argue that we are losing the value of knowing how to do things without technology. For example solving math problems without a calculator or hand writing a paper are two skills that will probably be disregarded and replaced by typing on a computer and using a calculator. The value of learning is developing new skills and applying those skills to society. My role as a learner is to do my best in listening to the teacher and having a positive attitude when in the classroom.

  8. After experiencing Mr. Fiches presentation I was in awe of all the information there was. I thought it was interesting that"100% of all 2006 graduates from India spoke English". While this was interesting, it was not surprising. As well known most of the Indians now days will work for tech support, where they must know English. This then makes me think about how much we rely on those grads to speak clearly and with correct pronunciation, for they know about our technology mush better then we do. So to put it in perspective, we need those post-grads in India to help us use our IPods and computers in America, which then help us go on with our technology filled lives. I know this for it is my life as well, with my computer, I touch and such that I too need someone to know it, or I need to learn it myself. I believe that learning things for ourselves is somewhat of a lost art, we have become a society that depends on others to know how to fix our problems for us. So you are considered valuable if you have learned the knowledge that is required for whatever task you are needed to assist in. So what does this mean for me as a student and learner? It means that I need to strive be one of those valuable leaner’s and try my hardest to learn all that I can, so that someday, I can lead other learners to success.

  9. It really strikes me about the speed of everything in the world. Something is always happening, for example, 34 babies born every 8 seconds and the average texts per month for a teenager is 2,272. This makes me fear my place in the world because I am not a fast person. I’m not a fast learning or a fast mover. This can and does impact me in a negative way. Learning is very important because if we didn’t learn we wouldn’t be able to keep up with technology. My role as a learner is to find things to learn about that matter to me. Technology has no meaning to me as it would for a tech “nerd”.

  10. After witnessing Mr. Fisch’s “Did you Know” powerpoint there was a lot of information that made me wonder even more about our world today. One of those things are, if myspace were a country it would be the eighth largest one. It's so amazing how the world and everyone on it can communicate with each other so easily. We have to face the fact that technology is changng our world drasticly. From ipods to robotics they are changing our world in so many ways. We have to control how it changes our world. Or in every 5 seconds 36 babies are born around the world. There is just so much going on around us we don’t even open up or eyes to see it. It makes me feel like if you want you can do anything you set your mind to. We can change the word by so much. Our world changes every day. I have to be for what may come the next day because our world could change in one day.

  11. I don’t even know what to say after that. It was incredible to see what has happened is six years. To have the computer at MIT in my pocket. To send 250,000 text messages too go to school and prepare myself for a job that isn’t even been need yet. My learning is my future and to be a predictive member of society I fell that I will need to attend collage and get a great education and prepare for the unknown.

  12. After watching Mr. Fisch's video I was in shock. I didn't even know what the think. I can't wrap my mind around the fact that teachers are preparing us for jobs that don't even exist right now, but will exist in 10 years. Learning that people send over 250,000 nakes me think that us as a society are too dependent in technology and if we didn't have it we would be lost. The value of learning is by learning everything and anything. We need to expand our minds. Our country's college graduate numbers are very low and we as the people of America need to do something to change that. We all need to take the role of a learner. My role as a learner is to always try my best, expand my mind to new ideas, and to value my learning experience.

  13. After watching that presentation I realized that things change every day and you never know whats going to happen next. If its a whole country or just a single person making a difference. Anyone can make a change at anytime so you should enjoy life and live it to the fullist.
Learning is so important and everyone does it every day theres just no stoping it, and without learning no one would ever progress in this world. My role as a learner is to try my hardest and progress.

  14. What really stuck out to me the most in the video I think was how much Americans use technology these days. I mean to see how much we have improved over the course of forty years is truly mind blowing. It makes me realize that every single second that passes by, life is being born, or a cell phone is being made. I think seeing this video really changed my perspective on learning. It showed me that I have to prepare for things that aren't even out there yet. Even though I'm still a kid and I can still make a big impact in this world.

  15. After watching Mr. Fisch's powerpoint on "Did You Know" I thought that in 10 years anything could be possible. 6 years ago Facebook, MySpace, and Youtube didn't exsist. Learning that the average teenager sends 2,272 texts a month is shocking, because a few years ago it wasn't even close to that many. Technology is important to the value of learning, because as we get older and go into the work force we need to learn all the new technology and know how to use it. It makes things easier. My role as a learner is to pay attention so I can learn what I need to.

  16. After whatching Mr. Fisch's presentation I was shocked about some of the information i saw. I thought it was amazing that in 10 years we will be learning about many new sobjects in college to fixs problems that we don't even know exist now. What also struck me was how far technology has come from a computer being as big as a whole room to being able to fit in your pocket today. All these facts shocked me. This makes me think that the world is progressing extrememly and that in a few years any thing is possible like now how you can see the other person you are talking to on the phone, people didn't even think that was possible years ago. Being in this world with the technology like that means that i could have a jod that doesn't exist yet.The value of learning is to have the ability to create new things and be able to fixs the problem that those new machines will have. My role as a learner is to learn this stuff now so we know how to deal with future problems.

  17. After watching that video I was extremely confused. It is crazy that 100% of college grads from India spoke English in 2006 when it isn't even their nation’s language. It is also crazy that jobs are being created for things that don't even exist. I now see that our future is going to be based on technology. To be prepared we need to start to learn with and about technology. The other stat that was amazing was that the average teenager sends 2272 texts per month! That is 27264 a year! The video really opened my eyes about the future and how I could possibly be involved in one of these new technologic jobs.

  18. Naturally, my initial response to Mr. Fisch's video was that i was shocked and frankly, a bit scared. To think that one out of eight couples met online in 2006 was incredible, because technology has skyrocketed since then. It makes me know that I am a part of something bigger than just my group of friends or my school, but we are all in the middle of a technological revolution.
It's hard to think that a computer might have the potential to be smarter than a human, but I am not one to believe that they could take over the world, so I take a bit of relief in the fact that we are the ones who have to program them. As it is easier to think that we don't have to learn because we can rely on technology, the truth is we need to learn to be able to do so. If nobody knows the information you need to put into them, they cannot output anything. As advanced as technology gets, and as much as it will be able to do, it does not have a brain or a heart or anything to make it be able to make decisions, just do what we tell it, although maybe someday in the future somebody will try to make that happen. My role as a learner is to take advantage of everything that gets thrown at me, so if technology suddenly shuts down or takes over, I will know what to do and be able to fix it.

  19. In Mr. Fisch's "Did You Know" PowerPoint presentation, there were so many facts that absolutely baffled me. The fact that "1,000,000 books are published every year," and that "a Google Book Search scanner can digitalize 1,000 pages every hour," was one of the first facts that shocked me. The depressing part about this is how much time it takes to first make the book and publish it, yet it takes almost no time at all to convert it into an entirely different format. The funniest fact, though, was "there are 240,000,000 TV's in the US," "2,000,000 are in bath rooms." Sure, there are commercials and shows that make fun of people like that, but few people choose to believe or accept the truth behind them.
There are so many values to learning, but I think one of the most important ones is to be self reliant. This means that when people are no longer there to protect you, you don't completely lose yourself. So my role as a learner, is to pay attention and take responsibility for my own learning.

  20. After watching Mr. Fisch’s “Did you know?” I have realized that during today’s society one must realize how important technology is and how much power the government has seeing how on Google Earth one can see nearly every street and house on our beloved planet. It personally made me realize what one man, with the help of a sound workforce, can really do with a strong education.
I believe that the value of learning brings respect and this respect can come in many forms, such as wealth, fame, what one has done with his life, and job. To get all of these, one must have a strong, sound education, unless you’re Paris Hilton and everything gets handed to you. A good example of this is Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft. He got a good education and went on to Harvard. Even though he dropped out he had the education and common sense he needed to buy “Windows” and revolutionize the technology industry.
I, as a student in the process of learning what I need to in order to cope with the 21st century, think that a comprehensive education is vital part of growing up and getting a job. My role as a student though is to assimilate the greatest education one can receive and to develop on many different levels. After doing such, I need to make sure my children get the best education I can give them.

  21. After viewing Mr. Fisher's powerpoint it struck me as odd how Mr. Fisher came up with this idea in the first place. He had to have some sort of plan before he started to gather facts. How did he already have this view on the world before he read the facts? I thought this was really impressive and give him a lot of credit for it. I also realize that people are putting to much time into technology. People are spending far too much time on developmet and coming out with so much new technology it is really unhealthy. The last thing I relized is how the world is constantly changing and how I won't know what jobs there are going to be in the future. After watching this power point, I realized that the value of learning is even higher for kids right now, because, we are preparing for jobs that don't exist yet. We need to pay extra attention. My role as a learner is to absorb as much as possible. You never know when you might need to use some information you learned.

  22. After viewing Mr. Fisch's powerpoints, I was amazed how technology has advanced. I was shocked at that 100% of college graduates in India spoke English in 2006. The world is a much smaller place because of technology. In the past, people from other countries did not interact much, but now they can on a daily basis.

Learning has many values. One of them is an educated person is more successful in life. They have more opportunities and are often happier.

My role as a learner is to learn the core subjects, as well as other subjects. It will give me opportunities and lead me to a more successful future.

  23. After watching Mr. Fisch’s “did you know” video made me notice that education Is being impacted in both a negative and positive way by technology . Positive being students can see the class material in a new and more clear way thus learning is more affective. Negatively being in some ways we are less knowledgeable to the old way of doing things. I think that new technology is a beneficial tool if it’s used for a tool and not too much as a game. I also think the old way of learning is necessary to know. In the end any learning style that is affective is good to use if balanced with other learning techniques.

  24. After viewing Mr. Fisch’s “Did you Know” presentation, It really made me think about how drastically, and how fast the world is changing. Especially, how much the technology in the world is increasing. Technology is now used on a daily basis, we do all of our homework on the computer, we send thousands of text messages a month, and half of our social lives are over Facebook, Myspace, or Twitter. I know technology is an extremely important part of our lives now, but I also think, reading, using an actually dictionary, writing out homework and maybe even writing letters once and a while is important too.

To me the value of learning determines the life I have. It determines the path I take, the choices I make, and the opportunities available to me. My role as a learner, to get to this point is; one, pay attention and focus. Two, get involved in my classes and take time to get to know new people. And three, I have to try my hardest to get the farthest in life.

  25. After seeing the power point it made me think of how much we reliy on technology today, but less than 30 years ago we barley used any technology. It also kind of annoyed me of how much technology is used today because people are becoming more and more lazy with the knew technology coming out today. At the same time i love how far we have come frome nothing to almost everythig making back breaking work to work were we just have to sit and move a machine to do the work. It is also amazing how people work for something that will improve jobs or other things that we barley have to work for something. It also prove how the human brain comes up with thing that over pass the brain.
